PROUD TO BE RAKHINE, GLAD TO OBEY JESUS

farming

Tin Naing once was a very proud Buddhist from Rakhine State on the southwest coast of Myanmar. He and his friends used to annually mourn the loss of their glorious kingdom Arakan at the hands of the Bamar about 200 years ago. It once stretched along the eastern side of the Bay of Bengal.

Tin Naing spent three years in prison for political reasons but came to Christ soon after his release. He was taught to lovingly obey all of the commands of Jesus, and, as a result, seven new churches have been born this year. Thirty-three new leaders were enrolled in a mentoring program and given Burmese Bibles (there is no Rakhine Bible).

Many of Tin Naing's new leaders-in-training are impoverished but are sharing better farming techniques with their relatives. Please pray that the message of their new king would spread far and wide. Many of these new believers are undergoing serious opposition to their movement for Christ.
