IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES

Young people

Many people from Myanmar have left their country to look for a better life elsewhere. Some are political refugees; others were forced to leave for economic reasons. They've settled mainly in East Asian and Western countries. In Thailand alone there are an estimated 2 million Myanmar people, and other large communities can be found in Malaysia and Singapore, Korea and Japan, as well as most English-speaking Western countries. They often find themselves in a hostile environment, despised by the local population and harassed by the authorities because of their illegal status.

The Christians among them have formed churches, and many of them have a vibrant ministry among their fellow country-people. They also support much Christian work in Myanmar.
